Wow! Two posts in two days.

As a member of the Cricut Circle I get to participate in challenges weekly and monthly. Today's post is about the monthly challenge. The idea was to "celebrate creativity". The criteria were to use patterned paper, have at least 2 cuts, use the shadow feature, and have some sort of embellishment. I have been thinking about this all month trying to figure out just what I wanted to make and haven't been able to come up with anything. I ordered some new (to me) paper packs from Joann's last week and got it in today. I found this great patterned paper in the Summer Dream diecut paper pack from DCWV and just knew I wanted to use it for this challenge. I cut the word "inspire" from the Wall Decor and More cartridge and cut this awesome butterfly from the Hannah Montana cartridge using glitter cardstock from the DCWV glitter matstack and cut the shadow for it using a dark purple color. I think the colors go together really well. For the embellishment I used a purple glitter glue to trace some of the lighter purple lines.

I doubled up on the popdots for the butterfly to give it some extra dimension and used only one layer of popdots for the word "inspire".

I am going to frame this and hang it on the wall in my scrap area, if I can keep it from my daughter. She has decided she loves it and must have it. I am trying to convince her to make something of her own. :)
Thanks for looking and have a great weekend.

I'm back!

I finally got my gypsy back and with it came my crafting mojo. I have a new card to show you. I have started a tradition of giving my kids cards for halloween with some kind of corny joke on it. When I saw this joke I just knew I had to make it into a card. In addition I am using this for the Cricut Circle blog contest. The rules were to use a transparent element and have two different elements. I layered vellum over the moon to give it a more muted tone. And sandwiched a bat between the yellow and vellum. I tried to cut the words from Happy Hauntings but they had to be so small that the cricut just chewed up the paper. Either way, I really love the way this turned out. Let me know what you think.

And the inside,

Thanks for looking. And have a great Halloween

This little birdie...

Wow! Another post! So soon after the last one. Can you believe it? My friend hasn't been feeling very well so I wanted to make her a card to help cheer her up. This is what I came up with....

One of her favorite colors (and mine) is purple so of course I had to use that as the base color. I used Create a Critter to cut the bird but I wanted to give it a little something extra so I used flocking on the wing and flower.  I found these great self adhesive jewels at Big Lots and this one fit perfectly on the flower so of course I had to add some bling. I also added some glitter glue on the beak. I just love sparkly!

I used my cuttlebug swirls folder for the  background. Then since I wanted to add a sentiment on the front I had to add a lighter color strip.

Thanks for taking a look and any comments are greatly appreciated. Have a great week!
