Cowgirl up!

Yeah, I'm back! I had so much fun making this layout of my daughter at horse riding lessons.

I used my Gypsy to design the page first. I measured the pictures after I cropped them and placed a square on the screen that was the same size as each photo. This way I was able to make sure that each element was the right size. After I cut the horses I put flock on them. It was a little tricky because I wanted the horses' manes and tails to be a different color as the bodies. I really love the way they came out.

You can't really see it here but the paper is textured and with the flock it gives it great dimension.
I cut the title and the straps on the hay bales from the same red as the barn. I then stacked them the way I thought they may be at a real farm.

Thanks for looking! And happy crafting!

Fishing with dad

My girls are such tomboys. In this layout they are fishing and swimming with their dad.

I used my Gypsy with Stand and Salute to cut the boot shape. I had to play around with the size A LOT. I used some printer paper to cut out the boot several times until I got it just right. Then I used Potpourri Basket to cut the fishing pole. I placed an eyelet in the top of the boot and tied a piece of twine to it, then ran the twine along the fishing pole.

Then I used Gypsy Font to weld the title. I used Tim Holtz distressing ink to give it more dimension.

On the next page I didn't do quite as much. Since they are all swimming I used the dripping font from Happy Hauntings to make it look like water dripping from the letters. I used Tim Holtz distressing ink to give it more dimension.

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend.

Happy Veterans Day!

I don't have anything crafty today but I wanted to say THANK YOU to all the veterans out there. And an especially big THANK YOU to their families. As the wife a veteran I know the hardship that is placed on the people staying home. I know the sadness and lonliness of the missed holidays and birthdays. I know the sleepless nights full of worry for your loved one. I know the frustration of trying to explain to your child for the millionth time why daddy is not home and hearing them cry because they just don't understand.

Whatever your stance on the current events in the Middle East, please remember that our soldiers must follow orders whether they agree with them or not and they deserve our respect for doing what no one else is willing to do. Without the awesomeness of our soldiers this country would not be what it is. While honoring our veterans please don't forget to honor the ones who made the ultimate sacrifice for you and me.

Have a great Veteran's Day! And enjoy the song.....

Daisy and me

So this is the project that I was working on when I discovered my Gypsy was not working. I had all the paper placed on the mat and ready to go but when I connected the Gypsy to the Cricut, nothing! I was crushed. I had been planning this one for a while and was so excited to finish it. Now it's done and I am so proud of the way it turned out. I used hearts from all different cartridges; Create a Critter, Gypsy Font, Hannah Montana, Plantin Schoolbook, and Sweethearts.

Thanks for looking!
